i dont know much about mono but flourcarbon line is usuall used as leaders because its low visibility under water braided line is super strong and has nostretch to it but if u try to pull on it with your bare hand when u get stuck it will cut u you always have to carry either a knife or line or nail clippers but i always hav it on one of my reels Buddy

Monofilament line is a thin string made from a single fiber. Most fishing line is made from monofilament because of its strength, availability in all pound-test kinds, and low cost.

Fluorocarbon line is made by combining a carbon base and other materials to form a line that is almost invisible underwater.

Braided line is one of the strongest types of fishing line in relation to its diameter. Braids are made by braiding or weaving fibers of a man-made material like Spectra or micro-dyneema into a strand of line.

Trout, especially the wild ones, are primarily a "line-shy" fish, thus heavier pound tests are going to be more visible for the fish, making the fish think before taking your bait. Most Trout are found in shallow, clear water lakes, reservoirs, & streams also. With the areas being clear, the Trout's ability to see the line will increase dramatically.

Bass are not a VERY line shy fish but if fishing in a clear water lake they will also be "line-shy".

Monofilament fishing line is going to be the cheapest, and is going to be "decent" in every category. It's okay in all categories that you would rate fishing lines, which is why it is used on a lot of multi-purpose fishing reels.

Braided fishing line is going to be mildly expensive, depending on the brand you get, but is going to be extremely thin. Lots of times, a 30-pound spool of braided fishing line will have the diameter, or thickness, of an 8-pound monofilament. However, braided line is very visible and if fishing in clear water lakes for line-shy fish you will catch less fish than if you used fluorocarbon or monofilament.

Fluorocarbon fishing is normally the most expensive of the 3 main types of line, and is going to have virtually the same line diameter as monofilament. However, fluorocarbon is nearly invisible under-water, which is why it is best used for these weary Trout.

Do you have an extra spool for your reel? I would spool one up with that high pound test braid you are wanting for Bass, and the other with 6- or 8-pound monofilament or fluorocarbon for Trout. If you don't have an extra spool you could always just use an "all-around" lb-test of line such as 10-lb. monofilament.

Or you could always just spool your reel with the braid, and attach a long leader of monofilament. Backwater Charlie

the small braid like that works great for me. i can cast farther with it, but the only bad thing is that the bass can see the braid. So to solve that just buy some mono or flouro leaders. 210.KYLE.210
