Where is the best place to go fishing in San Francisco?

we do alot of fishing in and around the bay, san pablo for sturgies and strippers, angel island for leopards, berkley flats for halibut ect. but always from a boat. i would suggest to call a local bait shop since you have a child so young and see if the D F G is running any fishing in the city programs like they do in sacramento. they stock local ponds in the city with trout in the 8 to 10 inch range to get kids turned on to fishing. sorry i cant be more help than this but we are always on the water not on land
