I am new to houston and I was looking for some good lakes or rivers to go fishing. Mainly looking for trout or bass fishing.

Here are 30 places to go fish in or near Houston.

I have been told that Katy’s Mary Jo Peckham Park, Tom Bass Park off Bultway 8 at Texas 288 and Independence Park are reliable fisheries.

But if you are in Houston, there is no better place than Freeport, Galveston or Matagorda to fish. Get a guide in Matagorda and you should catch lots of Speckled Trout. Ditto for Freeport and Galveston.

Check these sites out on the net. And always bring home fresh shrimp and blue crab off the fishing boats; also fresh crab meat, so fine!

Have a great time and wear lots of sun screen.
