either way. but don’t cut a nightcrawler. you’ll be left with a bunch of dead pieces.
if you need a smaller bait, use smaller worms. some other person

Either way is fine depends on size of fish you are catching, if small fish use small amount of bait to make it last longer, both ways work fine but a bigger fish may require a bigger hook and a more worm usually anyway. Jerry

Little baits get little fish. Big baits that little fish can’t gulp down don’t get wasted on little fish…most times.
Sometimes you’re lucky and get a big fish on a little bait.
But if you want to get mostly big fish…..
Think big……. jonal
