Hey, you need to start out slow and not just buy something that looks good or is expensive. You will learn better how to fish if you experiment with different type baits. Worms are inexpensive and are always good for a good fish. Spinner bates are cheap and can be replaced without spending a lot of money. They also are great fish attractors. Everybody needs a couple of crank baits and I would suggest maybe a "rat-l-trap" and some sort of shallow diving bait, like a "rapella". As far as top water is concerned, try a clear or white "zara puppy" or a "Chug Bug". These will surley pull in a good Bass.

Let me know how you do. JEM

I would start with
Gary Yamamoto Senko worm, texas rig weightless
Roboworm for dropshotting
Spinnerbait and a jerkbait for suspending fish
Zara Spook, Rapala or Rage toad for topwater
These should get you started.... UltimateFishingTackle

Fun question, as you already know there a ton of techniques to catch bass..so many you wouldn have to be very well off to afford everything all at once. I suggest buying one technique at at time.

1. Drop shot, a clear water technique mostly with inexpensive requirements... an example a dobyn 701sf , shimano sahara 1500 reel, 6lb flurocarbon line, no 2 gamagatsu split shot/ drop shot hook and morning dawn,
or shad pattern roboworm..4 or 6 inch straight tail.

Other techniques exist from in line spinners, texas rigged worms, crankbaits, jigs, spinnerbaits, topwater baits etc. Alex

Get pretty much the same ones that your buddy has.

As far as topwater lures go, Heddon Zara Spooks, Rebel Pop-Rs, and Lobina Ricos. Plastics, definitely add Gary Yamamoto Fat Ikas to your list. Grand Master Basser®
