Some good answers here so far; I've found a knife with a stag handle, some arrowheads, a whole line of old jaw traps made in the late 40's, and a broken powder horn. For me though the very thing I've ever found while hunting is the friendship and trust that I have with my son and dad. Being able to spend time with family, good friends, people who share the same attitudes and feelings as I do; that's the very best thing I've ever found in the world of hunting. SM

I found a nice Gerber knife stuck in the ground one time. Other than that I'm lucky to see the animal I'm hunting. seth

I found a 20 dollar bill once while hunting, I of course checked it for brown marks in case someone used it for the worlds most expensive toilet paper.

I found a Case brand folding lockback knife stuck in a tree.

I was with someone who found a rather expensive wrist watch in HIS OWN tree stand! Go figure that one out. Someone decided to use his tree stand and lost a $1500+ watch in it.

Found a human femur bone in West Virginia, state police sent a forensic unit out to collect the bone and map the location of the find. Our hunting day ended abruptly because of it.

In Pennsylvania I found a cache of civil war canon balls, I still have a bunch of them, they were by far the heaviest thing I have ever carried out of the woods. I have since learned they were used for a 12 pound mountain howitzer. Cane Toad Mutiny

Some things have been, a couple of knives, a .338, gloves, a climber...

the .338 (which i found hot) and a little rusty. i found on private property, which only me and 3 other guys are allowed to hun on.... I knew who's it was, but i didn't say anything, i just wanted to see how long it would take for the guy to start asking around..... It musnt have been that much to him, as it took him 3 months to call all the guys up that hunt that land and ask them if they found a gun.... By that time i had already killed myself a deer with that gun!!

the climber.. i found when squirrel hunting... i left it at the same spot for 1 month, as it was a pretty expensive climber to leave behind ( it was a Lone Wolf wide... About a $400 climber) after i month i came back, seen that it was still there... well it ended up on my back and back of the truck... chuckbird8_108

If its a public range, you'll never find the owner of the .308's, but if its a club, I'd check the sign in sheet and turn the ammo over to the club director or rangemaster. Wierdest thing I ever found while out and about in the woods were 3 civilians who jumped the fence at Lockbourne AFB, guns in hand, to do a little rabbit hunting. They pissed and moaned because we bagged a bunny that their dog had on the run. I threatened to haul them off to the base lockup. They left in a big hurry. Best thing I ever found was my buddy Ernie, dead asleep under a big old oak tree, while we were hunting just north of Columbus (Delaware County???) Yes, I'm a no goodnick. We woke him up with a shotgun blast REAL close to him (muzzle pointed skyward, just made the noise real close to Ernie). Funniest thing ever was watching him jump up and swear he was "just resting his eyes for a second". WOP2_99

I once "found" a g/f while out hunting. She was out birdwatching, while I was out hunting quail. It lasted until the next year's hunting season started and I was tossed, as I apparently failed to learn to be an anti-gunner/anti-hunter. A match made in hell. dragunov

Well, I was bumming over a lost item. Then, a year later, while hunting in the same area, I found my lost item. I knew that it was mine when I found it again, a bit dirty, half buried and a bit stained. How could I know that it was mine, you might ask? Easy, is my answer, for only an utter and complete MORON would lose a pair of Swarovski 10X42 binoculars, that same incredibly lucky idiot finding them a year later. I have not the slightest CLUE as to how nobody else found them before I returned to that spot the following year. As to how I found them (not even looking for them), it's simple.

I stubbed my toe against the binocular's body while tracking game, all but falling on my...well...you know.

P.S. On that same hunt, I found a German made Boker hunting knife (rare!). I started to pick it up, then stopped myself, thinking that there was another moron (like me), out there that might return to trip over it, and take it home. Al
