Best tip is don’t fall through the ice. Not much fun. Dress warm. Good gloves and boots. Stay dry. The fishing is really only secondary to your comfort.

put a minnow on the end of a tiny jig and drop into the hole. Try to stay out of the wind.

Go to your local library, they should have books about ice fishing. Read the books then find what works for you through trial and error. It’s too broad of a question to really answer on here. Hope that helps. You can also learn a lot by going with someone experienced.
