Is There any good place in southern california to go backpacking and fishing?

I’m in the Fallbrook/ Rainbow area and I’m looking for a good area to go backpacking and fishing, fly fishing or conventional, does’nt matter, but I’m wondering if there is anything around here or If I’m going to have to go out a ways or not. Thanks

It depends on what you consider far away. You have Big Bear Lake and then in the San Bernardino National Forrest you have Lake Silverwood. Both great places to hike, camp and fish and really within an hour and a half drive from where you are. I lived in Riverside and used to go there all the time. Great fishing in both places. Google them and you’ll be happy.
