I've heard of small dogs taken on the Detroit River last year,but as they say DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!! Muskie will take all sorts of artificial baits as well as large Sucker Chubs under a float.Stick with that and you can't go wrong!!!!!!!!!!GOOD LUCK and KEEP FISHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Here in Wisconsin it is prohibited to use gamefish as bait, I can not imagine it would be allowed to use live birds (especially waterfowl) or mammals as bait. As is well noted here, muskie and other carnivorous fish will attempt to eat anything they can get into their mouths (and n. pike & rock bass will even try to fit into their mouths things bigger than their mouths) if it is determined it is food it continues going down otherwise it is spit out. Better consult your fish & game regulations before trying any such thing.
