Emerald Isle Beach was "re nourished" about three years ago, and many of the good sloughs were filled in...If you want to catch sharks, there are some there....I don't fish for them, but have caught a lot of them at night using a fish finder rig...I use a 5/0 circle hook, with a wire leader...I went to wire after catching sharks instead of drum....Mullet is a good bait, or any fillet with the skin on...Most of what you can catch are smaller sharks....Three to four footers are about as big as you will find...Mostly sand sharks and dogfish sharks...If you place your rod in a sand spike, loosen the drag, or the rod will get dragged into the ocean....This past fall was the best for Red Drum in ages down at Emerald Isle, so you may latch into a Drum in the 30 inch range fishing at night also.....
