make it look natural

Just get some wood it doesn't really matter what kind but balsa seems to do best. Carve it out however you want it and paint to your suiting. I took some small hooks that have a closed circle on the end of it (can't think the name of them) and put two of them on the bottom. I then got some split rings and attached them to the screws with treble hooks on them. You can also put one of the screws on the front to attach your line to. Your now done and have a topwater lure. That guy makes a lot of his own lures. Actually, he makes molds of bought lures and then copies them as he needs more weight or flash. I can understand the desire to catch fish on something you design and built, it has to be rewarding. But here in Florida we can fish all year and so time you have to make lures can be spent casting lures instead. If you continue, you can design something new and maybe become famous. But there so many designs out there, so many unique lures that you will be hard pressed to find a productive lure that isn't a copy of another. So accept this as a challenge. There r thousands of lures on the market specially designed to catch different types of fish. The only people I know who make there own lures r fly fisherman. Do u have all the necassary stuff to start making crank baits, jigs, or rubber worms? I don't think so. I will give u a tip. There is a new lure out for bass, walleyes, etc. It's called the "Super Fluke". It comes in 4-8 inch lengths and bass r tearing it up where I live (NC). It's the best lure on the market right now for catching bass and I would say that walleyes would also hit it like crazy. It is white and resembles a hurt shad when being retrived. Give it a try. Making your own lures would cost u alot of $$$, and u may not have any success. I suggest buying lures from professional bait companies who have tested them and provide the best lures possible.
