Assuming the body of water does not freeze over, trout tend to go on bite in the winter. However, other fish like catfish, bass, and panfish all tend bite much less in the winter, especially if you do not have a boat and fish from shore. So anyway, you many catch less or more fish depending on your target fish or tactics.
