I am trying to find out how to get a summer job on a boat in alaska. I am 19 looking for a good adventure and I think this could be it. Plus I don’t want to go home at the end of the semester.

I’d look up the online local newspapers in Alaska and see if it is in the help wanted section.

Think hard before you do this. My son in law did it one summer and said it was a true life nightmare. Cold, stinky, hard work, low pay. Worst summer of his life. How about a resort in the mountains or a cruise ship?

    Go to

On the right side of the page there are several links for you to explore.

Most big commercial fishing boats companies operate out of Washington and dock back and forth from Kodiak.

Its not easy work and the pay at the bottom of the ladder isn’t the best, but you can work your way up.

    Good luck.

If you call up the company you’d like to work for and ask them that would probably be best.
