How do I attach my landing net to my fly fishing vest?
Spencer H asked:
I know the magnetic releases are great, but I don’t really want to drop the twenty bucks on one if there is a simpler solution.

I just stick the handle of the net behind me between the collar of my vest and shirt. Some times I’ll tuck it behind me in my waistband. Then all you have to do is reach back and grab it. Make sure you snap the net a few times after using it to get the water off it. fishedthereb4u

Most fly fishing vests have a D-ring sewn in about in the middle of the back at the shoulders. Your trout net should clip to this D-ring and hang behind you while fishing. kbhiltsley

The magnetic release is THE best way, Ive been fly fishing for years and before they came out we used to clip the net to the vest with a big saltwater swivel, the magnets will last for years and its worth the money as there is nothing to go wrong the best ones Ive seen are from orvis, but there is also this which you may want to use, i use it for my wading staff

Depending on the design of your vest and how you have it loaded, you can put the net in the large, rear cargo pocket at the back of the vest. With the handle directed up and protruding over your shoulder, it’s a quick motion to put it to use. e.b.
