very hard to shoot a fish in the water with a bb gun(even a 22 rifle)….as soon as the bb hits the water , it will turn on you, and the water stops most of the power of the shot…didnt say it couldnt be done, but the fish is usually the winner..especially if the carpp is 2 lbs and larger… tonto2u1948

heard a few good answers… but basically unless his head is out of the water the odds of hitting anything in the water with a bb are pretty small because the bb will either bounce off the water (depending on the angle) or it will be diverted by the water….
If you could shoot it in the head (sometimes they do expose their heads a lot when they are spawning in shallow water) the bb would probably bounce off since they have very hard heads - if it did go in it probably wouldn’t kill it either unless it was a small carp - goldfish are also a member of the carp family….
BTW - most people shoot them will a bow & arrow…. Joe American usn ret.

its not gonna happen, the bb will hit the surface and the friction from the water will slow it down to just sinking in a matter of inches.but if it stuck its head out of the water for some reason it will scare it or maybe break skin but wont kill it Alex B
