Fishing?
Crack a lack’n asked:
I go fishing in Mountain lakes it is a private lake and it is stocked with trout every so weeks. Last weekend i went with my family and we fished. Me and my dad caught at least 5 fish, but when we were pulling them out of the water every single time our line snapped. I need to know which test line I should buy. Please get back to me as soon as possible we are going fishing again in a couple of days.

three causes -
your line is too light
you pull too hard
your line is damaged from scraping over rocks
you must be gentle when reeling in a big fish - let the fish tire himself out and open the drag a little so he can take a little line and not break it.Pull back with your rod and reel up then pull back again and reel up until the fish is within range of the net.If he regains some strength
let him take some line out again.Remember don’t get excited - gentle is the word . Don’t forget - only keep what you can eat - the rest you let go to fight another day. gofish

well, you should probably get about an 8 pound test line if it keeps snapping Nick L

Two things
One- set the drag on you’re reel.
Two- use a quality co-polymer line, in about 8-10lb test, if it still happens, up to a braided line with a fluorocarbon leader of around 12lb.
On looking at you’re question it seems the line is snapping when you’re removing them from the water? if that’s the case then you need a landing net to lift them from the water. AIRFLOW

Nothing over 4lb test unless you’re trolling.
Let your reel’s drag work for you. If the reel’s drag was adjusted properly, the reel should give out lines before the line snaps. Some reel’s drag is too tight for 2lb test lines no matter how you adjust it. Some spincast reels don’t like lines lighter than 4lb well due to design. Even if you have the right line and right reel, things could still fall apart if you have a rod thats too stiff. This is why ultra light spinning rods and reels were so popular when it comes to trout fishing.
The line itself could give problems as well. It could be old, and oxidized. If this happens, the line will snap very easily. Maybe the line you use don’t like the knot you used. Knots like improved clinch and trilene knot will work great for smaller diameter lines. Just remember that you must check the knots from time to time because those knots will slip. Some copolymer lines will snap very easily when wrong knots were used or when there’s a bend somewhere on the line itself.
If you are still having problems, then you could give 6lb fluorocarbon line a try. You don’t need to fill the whole spool with fluorocarbon lines. You only need to use a piece of line that’s 2-3 times your rod’s length. Kenneth H
