Eelpout fishing suggestions Lake of the Woods?

I’ll be out ice fishing at the Lake of the Woods next weekend. I expect that the walleye bite will be strong, but had actually hoped to pull in some nice ‘pout. Anybody out there have suggestions?

I always considered Eelpout a “trash fish”, until a friend fried some up out on the ice.

Now I look forward to catching those kinda “trash fish”! (lol)

They are mighty tasty! (But no fun to clean! lol)

I always seem to catch them at night when a school of Perch comes through. Seems like, if you attract the Perch, you attract the ‘Pout!

I would crush some Crappie Minnow and sink them to the bottom. 6-7 Crappie Minnows sittin’ on the bottom seems to stir them up.

    Hope this helps? Good ‘Pouting!

I see the one answer “One-sto…” cleans the entire Eel Pout when only the back third behind the fin is the truly edible portions, poor mans lobster. Broiled with butter.
