No it wouldn't be okay. Your piercing is only four weeks old.. cartilage piercings take a year to heal. By changing the jewelry now, and putting a fishing wire in it, you put yourself at risk for a nasty infection, and a very pissed off cartilage piercing.

You could try getting a quartz retainer and have a piercer change it for you, but those don't make the piercing completely invisible. Changing the jewelry so soon will put you at risk for an infection, like I said, but if you take it to a piercer s/he can autoclave (sterilize) it for you and change the jewelry so everything is sterile. Then all you'd have to worry about is a pissed off cartilage piercing.

You should have thought about the rules for softball before you got the piercing.

Coming from personal experience, I wouldn't mess with it. My mom had to get hers redone 3 times because she kept messing with it and it got infected. That part of your ear is very sensitive and prone to infection. IF you have to take it out, try to get one of those hypoallergenic clear earrings (i'm not sure what they're called). But, it would be best to just leave it alone. I definitely wouldn't keep switching out the earrings all the time. Sorry :(
