There are many, I always liked Santa Cruz, it has it all, the pier, alot of nice restaurants, Beautiful coast line views, and of course the Beach and Board Walk full of rides, and Newbriton Beach, has a old pier to fish off if i remember right,
Half Moon Bay has plenty of places for that, If you go there check out Venice Beach, hardly ever is there to many people there and they have showers and well kept up, and If your very lucky and you can find Maverick's Beach at the right time and catch the biggest waves you have ever seen, 50 ft.
